This will be our new home in England, the sale completed yesterday! We have bought this house from Australia without actually having seen it, I know, totally crazy! My sister vetted it for us and she has exquisite taste so I'm not worried. The fact is, there is very little for sale in England and this was a bargain and it is in the most delightful village, complete with a 1000 year old church a charming pub and a little brook winding its' way through the village, I'm so excited but at the same time I don't want to leave Australia! The time is right now though, my eldest, Alice, finishes school here in Oz later in the year and dearly wants to go to Uni in London, Maisy will be back just in time to start her GCSE's and Jason and I will be able to look after our aging parents, a task we have left to our brothers and sisters for too long!
The house needs some TLC so I'm looking forward to making plans for the renovations. It was built around 1800 and I think a lot of its' features like timber framed walls and inglenook fireplaces have been hidden and I can't wait to see whats underneath. I'll keep you updated!

So first, I totally love it!!! Second, I think you are doing a great thing taking care of your parents. Third, that little town sounds too cute. Oh man, can I come visit!! :)
Exciting times waiting for you, hope it will go all smooth :)
What a lovely house! I wish you all the best in your new home :)
So lovely- please post photos of the interior once you move in! I'm on my township's Historical Commission here in PA and one of my interests is in historic preservation.
Congrats and kudos for buying old - which is the new green!
It's fab, Jill. We live in a 1918 craftsman bungalow with the resoration is fun, but endless!
Hope the move is swift and painless.
It looks charming and I wish you all the very best! We have a Tudor and I've always loved old English architecture. We are always retrofitting newer and greener projects but the old styles are so worth it!

well done Jill, it looks very nice!
when I left Australia I took some vegemite with me and now I can buy it locally in Sainsburys (whew! can't survive without it!)
I miss Australia too, I grew up there and it was a big culture shock coming to live in Scotland!
It all sounds beautiful... you are a very lucky lady!!! ~Renee
Oh, I just love the photos and when I read the description of the charming village it made me miss England sooo much!
How exciting!
I would love to visit England (and you too, Jill), but it seems just as unattainable as Australia. Perhaps one day....sigh...
Thanks guys, you're making me feel better about the whole thing, sometimes it seems a little crazy! Now I have to wait 'til August to see it for real!
